VOLUNTEERING ABROAD : GUATEMALA & COLOMBIA

Since 1998, our Volunteer Abroad Program has coordinated international volunteers working on projects with small community groups, non-governmental organizations and institutions seeking volunteer assistance. Volunteer Abroad has international volunteer opportunities, individual or group, in thirteen placement categories. Although skill and experience is important, a sincere willingness to learn and contribute is often all that is required to make a valuable impact. Our goal is that your volunteer abroad placement is as well matched to your interests and expectations as possible. We want to ensure that well before you are paying any fees and committing to a volunteer program, you fully understand the details of the placement and what you might expect as a volunteer. Your placement coordinator is also available to answer any further questions or provide more detail about the placements with which you have been matched. Guatemala and Colombia.

Accommodation Homestay and Spanish Immersion lessons are available.

Amenities: Some placements are in urban areas where you will have access to internet cafes, international calls, restaurants and other conveniences. However, several placements are in more remote villages and communities where you may have limited access to these services. These are important details to consider as you select your placement preferences. :  

VOLUNTEER NEEDED: We offer a wide variety of combinations of student internships and camps and social works to Guatemala and Colombia. Canada Amistad Program is a program of international cooperation that is available all year round and is accessible for all ages.  14 Year-Old (group) and more 18 Year-Old (group or individual), all nationalities.

VOLUNTEERING INTERNATIONAL:
This program of SOLIDARITY in order to provide adequate conditions for low-income childhood institutions. We offer the service of painting and renovating schools, institutions, hospitals, kindergartens, orphanages, facilities, playground. ORPHANAGE / KIDS GARDEN: The volunteer give support staff of an educational institution to support young children. The volunteer will host educational games, serving meals, and various daily tasks of the institution. Courses open to all and also offered to professionals, individuals or groups. The course is usually from Monday to Friday, some programs require the presence of voluntary purposes of weeks. Available to all young people and adults. Guatemala and Colombia.

INTERNATIONAL BUILDER: Like working outdoors, physical and tasks are in great shape? The building missions are a great opportunity for volunteers to get involved and help communities in need where there is a lack of infrastructure. Contribute to the construction of a school, a community center or rebuild and renovate houses can make a big difference to local communities. Sometimes it helps young people to go to a community school or a family to live in better conditions. Guatemala and Colombia.

EDUCATION: Help the institution to provide care to eligible children with learning difficulties. The degree in special education methods or training is required. Knowledge related to methods of intervention with clients, learning techniques and mental health are required. Communication skills and facilitation, autonomy, the ability to work in a team, the sense of observation, discernment, empathy and emotional stability are qualities. Volunteers contribute technical expertise as well as contribute to the financial self-sufficiency of ARCAS's conservation efforts while they gain valuable work experience and an insight into Guatemalan culture.

HEALTH CENTER: Most health centers where our volunteers are placed are under resourced, and understaffed due to the exodus of health professionals to larger cities. There is a great need of efficient hands to help the doctors, nurses and medical staffs in treating the ever-growing number of patients in community clinics, hospices and small hospitals. HELP TO COMBAT HUNGER: By volunteering on a nutrition project, you can help the childreens address a critical local public health issue whilst at the same time working closely with local organisation staff and local community members to tailor projects to combat hunger and improve food security.. AGRICULTURE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Offers volunteer groups the opportunity to work on a small farm. The volunteers help the staff for maintaining all aspects of the farm, crop-growing, flower-production, herb-cultivation and land-management. Guatemala only.

TRAINING & INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: Student practices are an important aspect in the professional development of the student. The lack of any kind of work experience is often considered as disadvantage for graduated students looking for employment. Given the aspect that not every University offers internship opportunities or trainings in companies, the goal of this programme is to overcome the gap between the theory and practice in the educational system, by offering practical use of the material learned at the University.   Guatemala and Colombia.
